Fedora goes forth with Eclipse!

The Fedora Project has release Core 4 today. To anyone interested this is hardly news, but here is a quick summary on why I think it is work checking out:

  • Eclipse built in! IBM's Java development platform that has become popular with other languages now. [smart move]

AND combine that with OpenOffice which already has good MS compatability, but is also no heavily Java enabled, and finally a Java desktop integration [ish]

  • GFS, operating system level clustering.

  • Progressively improving security with the SELinux security architecture.

  • Xen virtual machine environment.
