As part of my official daily web meanderings, I came across iMPERVA's Freeware IT security test tools. Most of them are your standard "sniff this" or "send that" kind of tool.
But one of them jumped out at me PassLoc. Why? Mainly because whoever devised such a tool must have had one of those eureka moments that really makes being a techie worthwhile. To explain, the tool allows you to visualize binary data using colour coding to highlight the degree of randomness of adjacent data. The theory goes that hidden crypto keys are more random than the files they are hidden in, and so the human eye/brain can pick them out of the crowd.
I am just dissapointed that I have no data to try it on.
